ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device, system and a method of using same are provided for determining the direction of a source or a sink of an electrical signal in a medium permitting the signal to pass. The signal is detected in the medium by at least one set of at least two electrical probes, and an electrical circuit is provided for comparing the strengths of the signals detected at the various locations through- out the medium. When the strength of the signal detected by a first probe becomes either greater than or lesser than the strength of the signal detected by the second probe, the operator knows that the source of the signal lies in the direction of the bisector of the line joining the two probes.
