- 1 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention is directed to a solution of a polypeptide, such as, for example, insulin, the solution being prepared and maintained at pH 6.8 to 8.0 and in which the polypeptide remains in solution in disaggregated form. This is accomplished by the use of the bicarbonate ion in the solution, the bicarbonate ion being present in a concen- tration of 2 mmolar to 2.5 molar.
