DISC BRAKE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A disc brake of the floating caliper type having a rotating disc between a pair of lining carriers. A torque plate on one side of the disc has arms extending radially outward to separate support members. The support members extend over the edge of the disc for supporting both the lining carriers and permitting axial sliding movement of the carriers into and out of braking engagement with the disc. The caliper is also independently supported and in sliding engagement with the support members at the ends of the arms so that during braking the torque is transmitted directly to either one or the other of the arms and the only forces acting on the caliper member are the brake actuation force in a direction axially of the disc and the caliper support- ing force. - 1 -
