Abstract of the Disclosure A disc drive apparatus for a plurality of disc packs rotatable about spaced parallel axes has a single head access mechanism driven by a single rotary drive about an axis paral- lel to and equidistant from the disc pack axes. The head access mechanism includes, for each disc pack, an array of arms carry- ing magnetic heads which are moved between loaded positions towards the respective disc surfaces and unloaded positions away from these surfaces. The apparatus provides a quick access time with a large number of magnetic heads.
