ABSTRACT A disc-type airborne vehicle utilizing an annular jet engine means for propulsion and control. The disc-type vehicle is characterized by a configuration having con- vergent upper and lower surface extending outwardly to a generally peripheral edge. The outboard portion of the lower surface extends generally radially of the vehicle and includes thrust producing means arranged annularly in the lower surface outboard portion. The thrust pro- ducing means generally comprises a continuous annulus of lift thrust duct means arranged in and selectively controllable in each of a plurality of sectors, and a continuous annulus of forward propulsion thrust duct means. Control means in the lower surface outboard portion selectively delivers the exhaust gases from the jet engine means to either or both of the lift thrust duct means and forward propulsion thrust duct means to exert on the vehicle any desired combination of lift thrust and/or forward pro- pulsion thrust.
