ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An intermediate vessel (tundish) for receiving a metal melt has a discharge passage in its floor avow which are two annular coaxial overflow pipes. Between the overflow pipes there is an annular space which, in use, receives a granular material which influences the flow properties of the melt.
