ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved discharge end structure is provided for a rotary retort. The structure includes a rotatable casing having a hollow interior and a pair of open ends. Transporting means are disposed within the casing and are rotatable therewith for transporting workpieces through the casing from one end to the other end during rotation of the casing. Supporting means are disposed within the casing and directly cooperate with the transporting means for supporting the casing for rotation about a longitudinal axis thereof extending from its one end to its other end so that workpieces are dischargeable directly from the other end of the casing. A novel method of making a rotary retort dis- charge end structure is also provided. By this invention a relatively simple retort is provided which avoids undue chilling of the workpeices.
