ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a discharge lamp of the cold cathode tube type. Between the two electrodes the tube is folded over or curved in two closely spaced parallel planes. The layout of the tube in one plane is offset with the layout of the tube in the other plane so as to provide a uniform illumina- tion over the whole surface occupied by the lamp.
