The invention relates to a discharge lamp (1) with a tubular discharge vessel (2) filled with an inert gas, and optionally provided with a layer of a luminescent substance. The discharge lamp comprises at least three elongated electrodes (3, 4, 5) arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tubular discharge vessel (2). The electrodes are arranged in such a way that the ratio s/a >=0.1 is satisfied, whereby s defines the maximal distance of the imaginary line connecting an electrode pair from the nearest adjacent wall of the discharge vessel, and a defines the distance between the electrodes of this electrode pair. As a result, a higher luminance is obtained. The lamp is especially provided for a pulsed, dielectrically impeded discharge.

Une lampe à décharge (1) comportant un tube à décharge (2) rempli d'un gaz rare et, éventuellement, une couche de substance luminescente, présente au moins trois électrodes longitudinales (3, 4, 5), disposées parallèlement à l'axe longitudinal du tube à décharge (2). Les électrodes sont agencées de manière à satisfaire la relation s/a >/=0,1, où s désigne la distance maximale que présente la ligne de jonction imaginaire d'un couple d'électrodes par rapport à la paroi la plus voisine du tube à décharge, et a désigne la distance mutuelle des électrodes dudit couple d'électrodes. On obtient ainsi une luminance plus élevée. La lampe est prévue notamment pour une décharge pulsée diélectriquement interdite.
