PHN 7965 ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a device for operating a low-pressure sodium vapor discharge lamp without a stabilizing ballast. According to the invention the lamp is provided with a discharge tube having at least three main electrodes, whilst an automatically operating change-over switch occasionally switches the lamp current to another main electrode. By placing a reservoir with liquid sodium in a certain position near one of those main electrodes, the sodium vapor pressure in the dis- charge tube is kept up to the mark by the said switch-over action. - 18 -
