Abstract of the Disclosure: A control for a torque converter clutch has a solenoid valve for initiating engagement and dis- engagement of the clutch. A switch responsive to vehicle brake pedal movement is operable to complete an electrical circuit for the solenoid valve to initiate disengagement of the clutch prior to energization of the vehicle braking system.
