ABSTRACT A contact lens is disinfected in an aqueous H2O2 solution. The H2O2 solution is neutralized and transformed in situ into a buffered, saline storage solution by adding a tablet containing sodium thiosulfate and buffering agents. The tablet has a coating which dissolves to release the tablet ingredients only a period of time after the tablet is added, so that the tablet can be put into the H2O2 solution at the same time that the lens is.
