The invention is a container for cosmetics such as lipstick, with refill cartridges (200) that must be used with the whole container to avoid problems such as separation during normal use. The refill cartridge (200) comprises a cosmetic holder including: a tubular innerbody (220), a tubular cam sleeve (210) surrounding substantially, the entire length of the innerbody (220); and an elevator cup (230) within the innerbody (220). The extension of the cam sleeve (210) over the innerbody (220), inhibits the relative movement of these two elements, unless a base member (100) configured to fit between them and impart relative torque is in place. A retaining means (300) is provided to hold the refill cartridge (200) and the base member (100) together.
