A nonlinearly chirped fiber grating (1020a) for achieving tunable dispersion compensation, dispersion slope compensation, polarization mode dispersion, chirp reduction in directly modulated diode lasers, and optical pulse manipulation. A dynamical dispersion compensation mechanism can be implemented in a fiber communication system (1001) based on a such a nonlinearly chirped fiber grating (1020a).

La présente invention concerne un réseau optique (1020a) modulé en fréquence de manière non linéaire permettant de mettre en oeuvre une compensation de dispersion réglable, une compensation de pente de dispersion, une dispersion de mode de polarisation, une réduction de modulation en fréquence dans des lasers diode directement modulés, et une manipulation d'impulsion optique. Il est possible de mettre en oeuvre un mécanisme de compensation de dispersion dynamique dans un système (1001) de communication à fibre optique basé sur un tel système de réseau optique (1020a) modulé en fréquence de manière non linéaire.
