A demultiplexer in a dispersion compensation system of the invention separates an optical signal in a 1520-1620 nm band propagating through a first common transmission path into two bands, i.e., C band (1520-1565 nm) and L band (1565- 162O nm). The demultiplexer then sends the optical signal in the C band and the optical signal in the L band to a first branch path and a second branch path, respectively. A first dispersion compensation device is provided in the first common transmission path to compensate for dispersion in the C and L bands. A second dispersion compensation device is provided in the second branch path to compensate for dispersion in the L band if the dispersion compensation by the first dispersion compensation device is insufficient. It is thus possible to sufficiently compensate for the dispersion of an optical transmission path in a wide signal band.
L'invention se rapporte à un système de compensation de la dispersion comprenant un démultiplexeur qui divise un signal optique dans une bande 1520-1620 nm se propageant sur un premier chemin commun de transmission en deux signaux dans des bandes distinctes, la bande C (1520-1565 nm) et la bande L (1565-1620 nm). Ce démultiplexeur transmet ensuite le signal optique dans la bande C et le signal optique dans la bande L sur un premier chemin de dérivation et un second chemin de dérivation respectifs. Un premier dispositif de compensation de la dispersion est prévu sur le premier chemin commun de transmission pour compenser la dispersion dans les bandes C et L. Un second dispositif de compensation de la dispersion est prévu sur le second chemin de dérivation pour compenser la dispersion dans la bande L si la compensation de dispersion par le premier dispositif de compensation de la dispersion est insuffisante. Il est ainsi possible de compenser correctement la dispersion d'une voie de transmission optique dans une bande large de transmission des signaux.
