ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for displaying pictures in respective display areas separated along a horizontal border line on the screen of a CRT display and has a CPU which sets in a selection value register a value representing the border line. A counter counts a horizontal synchronizing signal and the count value is compared by a comparator with a value set in the selection value register. Then, based on the comparison, a picture based on an inputted video signal and a picture read out from a frame memory are displayed in respective ones of the display areas on the screen of the CRT display.
