ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE DISPLAY DEVICE In order in the case of a device for displaying luminous images to be able on the one hand to increase contrast and on the other achieve good reliabi- lity, a display module is proposed, which has two series-connected, light- controlling elements, e.g. liquid crystal elements (11, 12). Upstream of, between and downstream of the liquid crystal elements are preferably provided polarizers (25, 26, 32, 36) in such a way that they significantly increase the light blocking action as nested pairs, "inner" and "outer" pairs.
