A display stand for a card or the like comprises a thin body with pairs of card gripping elements projecting from the top surface of the body, the gripping elements of each pair being spaced apart by a spacing less than the thickness of the card and the pairs of gripping elements being spaced apart across the top surface of the body. In one embodiment, the gripping elements are studs or bosses projecting from the top surface. In another embodiment a channel extends across the top surface of the body, the channel having a width greater than the thickness of the card, and the card gripping elements are protuberances projecting into the channel from apposite sides of the channel at positions spaced along the channel. In preferred embodiments, the stand is dimensioned so that it can be mailed along with the card by regular letter post.
