ABSTRACT A radio paging receiver receives a carrier wave modulated with a paging signal comprising a preamble code, an address code and a message. The receiver includes a memory for storing a prescribed number of received mes- sages, a counter for counting the number of the received messages and a display for displaying received messages. A control section controls the display and, in the event that a new message is received while an earlier message is being displayed, arranges for the display to indicate that a new message has been received without interrupting the display of the earlier message.
