A display system for assembling a display stand includes a plurality of upright columns and a plurality of panels attached to and supported by said columns. The display system includes a plurality of panel members, each said panel member having two edges that are substantially vertical in use and a column portion attached to each said vertical edge. A plurality of connector elements are provided for connecting together the column portions of adjacent panel members so that, in the assembled display stand, each upright column includes at least one connector element and at least two column portions.
