A display system for booklets, such as photo albums, includes providing front and back covers and pages bound therebetween. The covers each include portions extending beyond the pages in one direction and openings in the extended portions of each of the front and back covers and in alignment with one another. The booklets are displayed on display elements (which can be rods extending from peg boards, pairs of rods extending from a display surface or other elongate display elements) adapted to receive and display a plurality of items. The extended portions which contain the openings are removed by the consumer after the book is purchased. In the preferred embodiment, the front and back covers are vinyl, and the extended portions are separable by providing a line of perforations extending across the book between opposed side edges thereof.
