19 PHN 9052 ABSTRACT: Because the deflection fields in colour tele- vision display tubes on the display screen side often have a pin-cushion-shaped and barrel-shaped field distribution, a defocusing of the electron beams occurs upon deflection. By deforming the deflection field which is barrel-shaped on the display screen side of the deflection yoke so as to be pin-cushion-shaped near each electron beam on the neck side of the deflection yoke and simultaneously deforming the deflection field which is pin-cushion-shaped on the display screen side of the deflection yoke so as to be barrel-shaped near each electron beam on the neck side of the deflection yoke, the effects of said defocusing of the electron beams as a result of the deflection are con- siderably reduced. The haze occurring in the vertical dir- ection is also reduced.
