A method and apparatus are disclosed for generating a dis-play image including a map view and route information, the map view be-ing a three dimensional perspective elevation view, and the method charac-terised by: (a) determining (30), from height information associated with a map object to be displayed in the display image, whether the object ob-scures a line of sight to the route information in the three dimensional per-spective elevation; and (b) displaying (32) the map object in a format that is dependent on whether the map object is determined to obscure the line of sight.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de générer une image d'affichage comprenant une vue cartographique et des informations d'itinéraire, la vue cartographique étant une vue sur plan vertical de perspective tridimensionnelle; le procédé est caractérisé par : (a) la détermination (30), à partir d'informations de hauteur associées à un objet cartographique à afficher dans l'image d'affichage, si l'objet cache ou non une ligne de visée vers les informations d'itinéraire dans le plan vertical de perspective tridimensionnelle; (b) l'affichage (32) de l'objet cartographique dans un format qui dépend du fait que l'objet cartographique est déterminé ou non comme cachant la ligne de visée.
