-25- DISPLAYING WAVEFORMS Abstract of the Disclosure An apparatus for generating a video signal suit- able to cause a representation of repetitive waveform to be displayed on a raster scan display device com- prises a differential amplifier which forms an output signal representing a clipped version of the instantan- eous difference between the voltage of the waveform and a voltage representing the position of the raster scan line then being executed. An absolute value cir- cuit receives the output signal of the differential amplifier and generates an output signal representing the absolute value of the output signal of the differ- ential amplifier with respect to a reference level. The absolute value signal is inverted and level shift- ed, and is amplifies so that its excursions are of predetermined magnitude.
