ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bib of a type for covering a major portion of the upper front torso of the wearer, such as an adult hospital patient, and formed in an economical manner so that it can be used as a disposable garment. The bib is formed of a single sheet of thin flexible material having an outline defined by a bottom edge, a pair of side edges, and a top edge having a scooped central portion to be received around the front of the neck of the wearer and a raised portion on either side of the central portion, between the central portion and the respective side edge. A pair of ties are formed in- tegrally with a main central body portion, each tie being formed inwardly of its respective side edge and raised portion by a separation line which begins at a bottom end of the tie, extends upwardly and then inwardly and then downwardly to a termination point spaced laterally outward from the central portion so that the tie remains integrally attached to the main body portion. The separation line is spaced along its length inwardly from the side edge, and raised and central portion of the top edge a distance defining the width of the tie. The main body portion is made a width to extend well across the chest of the wearer and when it is put on the wearer, the ties separate from the main body portion and can be tied around the wearer's neck. The raised portions of the main body portion which are on either side of the neck receiving scooped portion project well up towards the shoulders of the wearer, thus providing good protection to the wearer. The sheet of material from which the bib may be formed a rein- forced tissue coated on one side with a liquid imper- vious plastic, or it can formed from other treated paper products or non-woven material which is pleasing to the touch. Because the shape of the bib, including the formation of the separation lines can be formed by a simple cutting or stamping process, the cost of manufac- ture can be sufficiently low that it is feasible to dispose of the garment after a single use.
