Blood clot analysis instrumentation used to evaluate platelet function and clot structure by monitoring force development during clot retraction or upon application of a known amount of force can have a calibration check automatically performed by using a top member (10) with a known amount of mass which is detachable from the instrumentation, and preferably is a disposable component. The calibration check is performed by monitoring force or displacement on a holding member (18) with and without the top member (10) attached. If the difference measured is within a preferred tolerance range, then the instrumentation can be deemed to be within the specifications deemed best suited for the instrument.

L'invention concerne un instrumentation pour analyse de caillot de sang utilisée pour évaluer la fonction plaquettaire et la structure d'un caillot par surveillance d'un développement de force pendant une rétraction du caillot ou après l'application d'une quantité connue de force. Un contrôle d'étalonnage peut être réalisé automatiquement au moyen d'un élément supérieur (10) présentant une quantité connue de masse et pouvant être retiré de l'instrumentation, ledit élément (10) étant de préférence un composant jetable. Le contrôle d'étalonnage est réalisé par surveillance de la force ou du déplacement sur un élément de retenue (18) avec et sans l'élément supérieur (10) fixé. Si la différence mesurée est comprise dans une plage de tolérance préférée, l'instrumentation peut être considérée comme adaptée aux spécifications jugées adéquates pour cette instrumentation.
