ABSTRACT The invention is concerned with a disposable diaper having a moisture pervious topsheet adapted to contact the body of an infant, a moisture impervious backsheet substantially coextensive with the topsheet, an absorbent core interposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and adhesive tab fastener means for releasably fastening together opposed portions of the diaper. The tab fastener means comprise a fastening tape and a reinforcing tape each having an adhesive surface and a non-adhesive surface, the adhesive surface of the fastening tape having one end adhered to the backsheet of one of the opposed portions of the diaper and a portion adhered to the non-adhesive surface of the reinforcing tape, and a release tape adhered to the adhesive surface of the reinforcing tape so as to permit the reinforcing tape and release tape to be separated from one another to thereby expose the adhesive surface of the reinforcing tape for adhesion to the backsheet of the other portion of the diaper. The reinforcing tape is provided with a color which is readily discri- minable from base colors of the backsheet and the fastening tape. Each of said fastening tape and rein- forcing tape has a free end terminating in a folded over grip tab with the grip tab of the reinforcing tape extending beyond the grip tab of the fastening tape by at least 5 mm. The adhesive force with which the adhesive surface of the reinforcing tape adheres to the backsheet is not greater than the adhesive force with which the adhesive surface of the fastening tape adheres to the non-adhesive surface of the rein- forcing tape.
