A needle-covering sleeve (14), slidably fitted on the syringe barrel (1), is held in its retracted rest position by means of retaining tongues (10), which hook it at its rear rim (13). At the end of the injection stroke of the plunger (2), a rear flange (8) of the stem (3) of the plunger (2) radially opens the retaining tongues (10) apart, which release thereby the needle- covering sleeve (14). Then, the latter is axially advanced by means of a spring (16), to an advanced safety position, in which it entirely covers the needle (5) and is fastened to a sleeve-clamping ring (18), which is provided at the fore end of the syringe barrel (1). To this purpose, the sleeve- clamping ring (18) has peripheral elastic retaining tongues (19) which interact with matching retaining teeth (20) on the inner part of needle- covering sleeve (14) and prevent any axial backward movement of the needle- covering sleeve (14). Further, the sleeve-clamping ring (18) is a stop abutment, cooperating with an inner projection of the needle-covering sleeve (14) and preventing any further axial forward movement of such sleeve.

L'invention concerne une gaine (14) de recouvrement d'une aiguille, ajustée coulissante sur le corps (1) de la seringue et maintenue dans sa position de repos rétractée au moyen de languettes (10) de retenue qui l'accrochent à son bord arrière (13). A l'extrémité de la course d'injection du piston (2), un rebord arrière (8) de la tige (3) du piston (2) ouvre radialement, de part et d'autre, les languettes de retenue (10) qui libèrent ainsi la gaine (14) de recouvrement d'aiguille. Ensuite, un ressort (16) fait avancer axialement cette dernière dans une position de sécurité dans laquelle elle couvre entièrement l'aiguille (5) et est reliée à un anneau (18) de fixation de gaine situé à l'extrémité avant du corps (1) de seringue. A cette fin, l'anneau (18) de fixation de gaine comporte des languettes (19) de retenue élastiques périphériques agissant en interaction avec des pointes (20) de retenue correspondantes situées sur la partie intérieure de la gaine (14) de recouvrement d'aiguille et empêchant tout déplacement axial vers l'arrière de la gaine (14) de recouvrement d'aiguille. En outre, l'anneau (18) de fixation de gaine constitue une butée d'arrêt coopérant avec une saillie intérieure de la gaine (14) de recouvrement d'aiguille et empêchant tout nouveau déplacement axial vers l'avant de la gaine.
