A distillation process for removing hydrocarbonaceous compounds from a mixture of refined oil product and a stream of hydrocarbonaceous compounds which contains sulphur compounds, which process comprises the steps of: (a) feeding the mixture into a distillation column (1); (b) removing a bottoms stream enriched in the hydrocarbonaceous compounds; (c) removing a gaseous overhead stream enriched in the refined oil product; (d) partially condensing the gaseous overhead stream to obtain a partially condensed stream which is separated into a gaseous fraction and a liquid fraction; (e) introducing at least part of the liquid fraction into the top of the distillation column; (f) removing the gaseous fraction; and (g) withdrawing the refined oil product from the distillation column at a point which is at least two theoretical fractionation stages below the top of the distillation column.
