Apparatus and method for the prevention of echo signals in terminals connected to a network carrying telephony traffic. The echo prevention occurs prior to the introduction of signal delay by a network. It provides a method of controlling echo contained in audio signals transmitted between the nodes of a network, wherein the audio signals experience delay in transit from node to node and wherein the echo controlling method is distributed across the nodes, the method comprising: a) feeding a signal from a local source of audio information to the node; b) canceling echo present in the local source signal to produce an echo canceled signal; c) suppressing any residual echo present in the echo canceled signal to produce an echo suppressed signal; and d) delivering the echo suppressed signal to the network.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé de prévention des signaux d'écho dans des terminaux reliés à un réseau téléphonique. Cette prévention des échos se fait avant introduction des retards de signaux par un réseau. Elle comporte un procédé de suppression des échos contenus dans les signaux audio émis entre les noeuds d'un réseau où les signaux audio subissent des retards dans leur transit d'un noeud à l'autre, et où le procédé de suppression des échos est réparti entre les noeuds. Ledit procédé comporte les étapes suivantes: a) diriger le signal d'une source locale d'informations audio sur le noeud; b) supprimer l'écho présent dans le signal de la source locale de manière à obtenir un signal sans écho; c) supprimer tout écho résiduel demeurant dans le signal exempt d'écho pour produire un signal sans écho; d) et fournir le signal exempt d'écho au réseau.
