ABSTRACT A thermostat supplies signals indicative of sensed and desired values of a parameter in an air conditioned space over a communications link to a first controller operable to control condition changing equipment for regulating the parameter in the space. A load management controller is connected to the communications link by means of an interface device which is operable to process the signals transmitted over the communications link and to modify them in accordance with a predetermined program if so instructed by the load management controller.
