A distributed system for analyzing traffic flow on a communications network architecture where a computer provides information over a data network to a concentrator, which provides a bridge between the computer and the end user terminals. The interface between the terminals and the concentrator is provided through access points for each workstation. The system to analyze the traffic is distributed into three components that perform, respectively, classification of the traffic flow, processing of the results of the classification, and handling of the processed results.

L'invention concerne un système réparti qui permet d'analyser l'écoulement de trafic dans une architecture de réseau de communications dans laquelle un ordinateur fournit des informations à un concentrateur de données, en passant par un réseau de données, le concentrateur formant un pont entre l'ordinateur et les terminaux d'utilisateur. L'interface entre les terminaux et le concentrateur de données est assurée par des points d'accès pour chaque station de travail. Le système d'analyse du trafic est réparti en trois composantes qui exécutent, respectivement, la classification de l'écoulement de trafic, le traitement des résultats de la classification, et la gestion des résultats traités.
