A distribution system for communicating signals and data without the need for continuous telephone lines is described. This system provides a base unit (101) connected to incoming signals (105), such as cable, satellite, PCS, cellular, fiber optics, XDSL, ISDN, etc., one or more extension units (107) connected to the user's telephone or electronics equipment (111, 112) and a communication link (106) between the base unit and the one or more extension units. The preferred communication link is an A/C power line carrier or alternatively a wireless RF channel. This system provides for the distribution of communication signals from a variety of sources through out a building or office without requiring dedicated telephone lines. This invention, in one of its preferred embodiments, is specially adapted to meet the technical requirements of A/C power line communications.

La présente invention concerne un système de distribution permettant de communiquer des signaux et des données sans recourir à des lignes téléphoniques continues. Ce système comprend une unité de base (101) reliée à des signaux entrants (105), tel que câble, satellite, services de communication personnelle, cellulaire, fibres optiques, XDSL, RNIS, etc.; une ou plusieurs unités d'extension (107) reliées au téléphone de l'utilisateur ou à du matériel électronique (111, 112) et un lien de communication (106) entre l'unité de base et la ou les unités d'extension. Selon une réalisation préférée, la liaison de communication est assurée par un courant porteur alternatif/continu, ou bien par un canal HF. Ce système assure la distribution de signaux de communication de provenance diverse à l'intérieur d'un bâtiment ou d'un bureau sans recours à des lignes téléphoniques spécialisées. Selon l'une des réalisations préférées, cette invention satisfait tout particulièrement aux exigences techniques de communications par courant porteur alternatif/continu.
