The invention relates to a distributor (13) for a sheet cutter, which is provided with prongs or the like (24), said distributor being adapted to travel from its retracted position forward to a stand-by position to wait for an action command, upon the reception of which the distributor descends downward to take up sheets on top of its prongs (24), and said distributor being further adapted to travel to its retracted position and to deliver at the same time the sheets piled up on the prongs (24) further onto a bale table associated with the distributor. According to the invention, the distributor prongs (24) are adapted to retain a substantially horizontal position in various operating conditions of the distributor.
