O.Z. 0050/42619 Abstract of the Disclosure: Disulfides of the general formula X1-(CH2)n-S-S-(CH2)n-X2 where X1 and X2 are identical to one another and are each -Br, -N-phthalimide, -NH2, -OOC-(CH2)3-COOH, -OSO2-CH3, -NH-(CH2)2-NH2, -SO3H or -SO3-M+ in which M+ is an alkali metal ion and n is from 11 to 25, or X1 is -OH and X2 is -Br or X1 and X2 are each -COO-CH2-CH3 and n is from 10 to 25, are suitable for the production of monomolecular layers on noble metal substrates and for the production of multimolecular layers.
