23930-273 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dividing section for flat packages such as letters, which move one after the other through a delivery section having a plurality of stack compartments arranged one after the other, to which the packages are passed through deflectors that are assigned to the individual compartments. Failure-free stacking of the divided packages in the individual compartments is ensured in that the upper edge of each package is forced against a guide plate that is immediately opposite it by means of a soft rubber roller shaped extension that is arranged in the delivery path immediately in front of each stack compartment.
