The invention is a cellular radio system (1) for terminals with narrowbeam antennas (20) that provides demand assignment multiple access channel assignment under a guaranteed channel quality criterion. The invention features an efficient channel assignment algorithm (46) that utilizes a database of measured co-channel interference characteristics of subscriber terminals to eliminate significant co-channel interference in assigned channels. The use of measured terminal interference characteristics eliminates the occurrence of unexpected random occurrence of large co-channel interference in channel assignments thus permitting the use of more spectrally efficient cellular frequency reuse patterns.

La présente invention concerne un système radio cellulaire (1) pour terminaux à antennes (20) à faisceau étroit. Il donne une assignation de canaux en accès multiple avec assignation en fonction de la demande (AMAD), avec un critère de qualité garantie des canaux. L'invention possède un algorithme efficace d'assignation de canaux (46) qui utilise une base de données de caractéristiques d'interférences mesurées entre canaux pour les terminaux d'abonnés, pour éliminer les interférences importantes entre canaux, dans les canaux assignés.
