Escherichia coli has been transformed by a vector containing the cDNA integrated thereinto to express the GIF. The DNA which codes for a cloned GIF can be used in the genetic diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and a large amount of the GIF can be produced by expressing said DNA in a transformant.
