ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A recombinant DNA construct for the expression of proteins in the mammary gland of transgenic mammals and the subsequent secretion into the milk, which construct contains the follow- ing DNA regions in the specified order and functionally linked to one another: (1) a transcription control region comprising one or several genes which are specifically activated in the mammary gland; (2) a first DNA sequence region which does not get trans- lated; (3) a DNA sequence which codes for a signal peptide which allows the secretion into the milk; (4) a DNA sequence which contains the genetic information for a heterologous peptide or a protein; and (5) a DNA sequence which contains a polyadenylation site and a transcription termination signal. There is also a recombinant vector which contains such a construct, and processes for obtaining proteins from the milk of transgenic animals in whose genome a DNA construct is integrated.
