DNA ENCODING A GRF PRECURSOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE mRNAs encoding for GRF sequences are identified in a pancreas tumor and sequenced. From the sequence, it is learned that hpGRF is initially a portion of a longer precursor peptide that is subsequently processed into hpGRF. cDNA made from such mRNA is transformed into a host cell which produces a GRF precursor. In vitro or in vivo processing can be used to obtain GRF from the precursor.
