The invention provides recombinant nucleic acids comprising nucleic acid sequences from the genomic DNA methyltransferase gene. The invention further provides sequence information for such nucleic acid sequences. In addition, the invention provides antisense oligonucleotides complementary to special regions of the genomic DNA methyltransferase gene or its RNA transcript. Finally, the invention provides methods for using such antisense oligonucleotides as analytical and diagnostic tools, as potentiators of transgenic plant and animal studies and gene therapy approaches, and as potential therapeutic agents.
L'invention a trait à des acides nucléiques de recombinaison renfermant des séquences nucléotidiques issues du gène de l'ADN génomique méthyltransférase. Elle concerne également des renseignements de séquence relatifs à ces séquences nucléotidiques. Elle porte, en outre, sur des oligonucléotides antisens complémentaires de régions particulières du gène l'ADN génomique méthyltransférase ou de son produit de transcription d'ARN. Elle concerne enfin des méthodes d'utilisation de ces oligonucléotides antisens en tant qu'instruments analytiques et diagnostiques, en tant qu'agents de potentialisation dans le cadre d'études expérimentales sur des plantes et des animaux transgéniques ainsi que dans le cadre de procédures de thérapie génique ou encore en tant qu'agents thérapeutiques potentiels.
