It is intended to provide a process for producing a DNA nanocage characterized by having the step of two-dimensionally assembling three types of oligonucleotides by hybridization to thereby form a double-stranded DNA branched in three directions which has self-complementary strands at the end, and the step of self-organizing the double-stranded DNA branched in three directions thus obtained in such a manner that the self-complementary end is completely consumed three-dimensionally. The DNA nanocage can be conveniently constructed via a single stage from DNA and can hold nanoparticles enclosed therein. Owing to these characteristics, the DNA nanocage highly contributes to the development of functional materials with the use of DNA.
