It is intended to provide a DNA participating in the hydroxylation of a macrolide compound 11107B and a novel method of producing a macrolide compound 11107D. More specifically speaking, a DNA participating in the biological conversion of the macrolide compound 11107B represented by the formula (I) into the 16-hydroxylated macrolide compound 11107D represented by the formula (II) which encodes a protein having a 16-hydroxylase activity or ferredoxin; a method of isolating the same; a protein encoded by the above DNA; a plasmid carrying the DNA; a transformant transformed by the plasmid; and a method of producing a 16-hydroxylated macrolide compound with the use of the transformant.

Cette invention concerne un ADN intervenant dans l'hydroxylation d'un composé macrolide 11107B ainsi qu'un nouveau procédé de production d'un composé macrolide 11107D. Cette invention concerne plus spécifiquement un ADN intervenant dans la conversion biologique du composé macrolide 11107B représenté par la formule (I) en un composé macrolide 16-hydroxylé 11107D représenté par la formule (II) qui code une protéine présentant une activité 16-hydroxylase ou la ferrédoxine. Cette invention concerne également un procédé permettant d'isoler ce composé; une protéine codée par l'ADN susmentionné; un plasmide portant l'ADN; un transformant transformé par ce plasmide; et un procédé permettant de produire un composé macrolide 16-hydroxylé à l'aide du transformant.
