La présente invention concerne un nouveau polypeptide métalloprotéase de matrice transmembranaire [MT4-MMP(2)] qui a une activité physiologique différente de MT4-MMP rapportée jusqu'ici, un ADN codant pour ledit polypeptide métalloprotéase, une méthode de production dudit polypeptide et une méthode de criblage d'un inhibiteur, d'un activateur, etc. par utilisation dudit polypeptide métalloprotéase et dudit ADN.
