ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A compact yet rigid double-doctor blade structure for a paper mill roll, particularly the granite roll of a compact three-nip press section, comprises two doctor blades, each mounted to a hollow support structure. The support structures are joined into a rigid unit by gussets or like transverse joining elements with the support structures configured so that a vertical slot is provided between the support structure when the double- doctor blade structure is in its operative position. The compact arrangement permits location of the double-doctor blade structure in confined locations.
