Abstract of the Disclosure. The invention relates to a doctor device for a self-washing inking unit of a rotary printing press, made up of a doctor carrier, on which two mutually parallel doctor blades are mounted so that they are able to be brought into engagement with the inking or engraved roller and to cooperate with the inking roller, the doctor carrier and sealing means provided at the end on the doctor carrier define a sealed ink chamber, of ducts for the supply to and removal of ink from the ink chamber and of engagement means for pressing the doctor against the inking roller In order to attain the aim of so improving on such a doctor blade device that it is possible to maintain a constant ink pressure in the sealed ink chamber in a simple manner without special control or regulating devices being necessary and without particularly attentiveness of the operator, the ink chamber (2) is connected via an overflow edge (13) with the removal duct (9 and 14). Furthermore in order to produce a constant hydrostatic pressure in the Ink chamber (3) the overflow edge (13) projects beyond the ink chamber by a certain vertical distance (a).
