"DOCUMENT PROCESSING SYSTEM AND EQUIPMENT" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A document processing system including a digital image capture system, character recognition circuitry, document encoding systems, endorsers, audit trail printers and an in-line microfilm record system enable documents to be read, endorsed, encoded, digitally imaged, filmed and sorted in a single continuous pass through the document pro- cessor by way of a modular transport system. In a specific aspect of the invention, the system processes and displays information contained on the face of documents being transported through the system and comprises: (a) camera means for capturing the image of the face of each of said documents, (b) video display means; and (c) video formatter apparatus for selectively displaying on said video display means only a portion of said image captured by said camera means, said video formatter apparatus comprising: (i) means, in memory, for defining individual zones corresponding to discrete display areas of said video display means; and (ii) digital control means for limiting the display of an image on the video display to only that portion of the captured image represented by selected ones of said discrete display areas.
