DOCUMENT SENSING DEVICE Abstract of the Disclosure A sensing device for a series of document tickets which carry longitudinally extending magnetic stripes with interruptions between the stripes of consecutive tickets, the sensing device including a light source positioned opposite one face of the ticket and a light detector positioned opposite the other face of the ticket and in alignment with the light source. The sensing device is in alignment with the magnetic stripe of a ticket passing through the sensing device so that light is completely blocked to the detector from the light source by the stripe, and the interruptions between stripes of consecutive tickets allow light from the source to impinge on the detector for locating ends of the tickets.
