FORWARD BIASED TWO DIRECTIONAL DOCUMENT MOVER AND ALIGNER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A document handler adapted for use in a copy machine including a document transport belt for frictionally engaging documents to be fed by the document handler, the document transport belt being alternately movable in opposite directions. A normal force applicator associated with the document transport belt is provided, the normal force applicator being adapted to provide a high normal force to provide a greater frictional engagement between the belt and the document when the belt is moved in one direction and provide a low normal force to thereby reduce the frictional engagement between the belt and the document when the feed belt is moved in the opposite direction.
