A method a method for diagnosing susceptibility to diabetes in a non-human animal, the method comprising: a) identifying whether or not a polymorphism as defined in Table 4 or a polymorphism which is in linkage disequilibrium with such a polymorphism is present in the genome of the animal; and b) thereby diagnosing whether the animal is susceptible to diabetes, wherein optionally the said identifying is carried out on a sample from the animal.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour diagnostiquer la susceptibilité au diabète chez un animal non humain, lequel procédé consiste : a) à identifier si un polymorphisme tel que défini dans le tableau 4 ou un polymorphisme en déséquilibre de liaison avec un tel polymorphisme est présent ou non dans le génome de l'animal et b) à diagnostiquer si cet animal est susceptible de développer un diabète, l'identification étant éventuellement effectuée sur un échantillon prélevé sur ledit animal.
